Is it even a Monday after vacation if you aren’t scrounging in your cabinet for dinner ideas?!
I’ve had 986 methods this year for getting dinner on the table…because family dinners are very important to me. Here is what’s working for now.
$5 monthly meal plan from Alexa Hughes- most effective when you go to the store! She gives the recipes and list to shop weekly!
Shelf Cooking inspired by Jordan Page- use what you have on hand for the week or try to go a month! This saves money and helps cut out the clutter of random canned foods and many pasta boxes.
Calling my Dad to see what leftovers are in the fridge that he won’t eat.
OR my favorite is when the kids break into their grandparents house (they live next door) and steal Ravioli then my parents ask why I’m not feeding them. This method usually gets me one free home cooked pity meal a month.
…..
What I scrounged up tonight - in the crockpot for 5.5 hours on low- 1 lb frozen chicken, a spoonful of garlic, can tomatoes with chilies, 2 cans black beans and 1 can kidney beans drained, 16 oz chicken stock, several shakes of cumin, chopped up green onions… smells good at least!
*another tip is going to All Recipes and typing in what ingredients you have, then lots of recipes pull up! This was a combination of several. ;)
**if are afraid to eat my cooking after seeing my non sanitary habits of selfies with onions by hair, bring over a meal to share. We can experience the beauty of family dinners together!
