I switched our home from grocery store cleaners to just plant based for my kids. Not for me or because some “fad” said it was cool to use toxin free, fragrance free cleaners. That was 8 years ago, and I’ve tried so many recipes since! This DIY bleach recipe has saved toilets from long last stains, gotten white towels so fresh and so clean, clean, and been a safe option for ALL of us.

A few years into switching from toxic cleaners, I finally asked “But, why?” Mostly because I started selling products and people were asking! I was good with just seeing the health benefits of not having poison (literally, if your kid gets into bleach it will be detrimental or deadly!) underneath our kitchen sink. You see, all those years ago when my daughter was a newborn, I was cleaning the glass kitchen table with glass cleaner. I moved hew high chair away so it wouldn’t splatter on her skin. We had dealt with eczema, and I knew that anything touching her was a huge nope! Even being feet away, without it getting on her skin, her chest started breaking out and breathing became labored! Just from BREATHING it in, I saw how harmful it was for her.

Maybe you don’t care for personal stories and still think “common cleaners are fine! DIY stuff doesn’t work anyways”. So let me give you some numbers.

• The CDC said in a 2018 stat that every day 300 kids are treated in the ER from poison, and 2 die. Every day.
• Bleach can cause or aggravate asthma.
• Using bleach to disinfect is making “super bugs” resistant to antibiotics and more likely to spread.

It’s really not a joke to me that when you clean, you’re needing to air out with windows open or fans on. There are better ways for sure! To be honest, vinegar isn’t really cleaning the germs and it’s not worth compromising our health to use name brand. I needed harder hitting options that were still plant based and I’m thankful I found this recipe! Products might say natural, but they aren’t always. Be a label reader and question what you use for your health.
