Paper clutter gets on my nerves, so I just throw it all away. But then there are those little notes my kids wrote or a picture drawn, the ticket stub from a movie we saw, or a sweet card from a friend that I don’t want to throw away!

I used to keep these all in a corner on my desk, untouched, just piling up, until one day I started putting them in a box. That box got full, so I got another box. Thus creating the memory box! Each year, I take these memorable things I don’t want to toss and put them in a labeled box. No sorting. No rhyme or reason other than “This is good, I want to keep it!”. No fuss and no more clutter in site!

The kids will take these out and look at them from time to time (if you’ll look closely they aren’t even in order on the shelves. But they do know to keep the contents to each box in there.

I think this is something you can start today! Get a photo box from your local craft store (tip, get several so you don't have to for years!). Find a place where you can store it. They’re so simple, they can fit in with any decor!

Make your box!

Write the year on a piece of card stock to go in the slot. Where you keep all your stacks of papers, add what you want to keep for memories in the box!
